The candidate will monitor insurance-related and general corporate-related regulatory and legislative actions. Evaluate impact on Farm Bureau Insurance and Michigan Farm Bureau. Provide support to Michigan Farm Bureau legislative counsel. Maintain strong working knowledge of, and serve as the company resource in, insurance-related regulations such as No-Fault and Essential Insurance. Monitor insurance publications and case law which could affect the companies’ compliance with insurance-related regulations and legislation. Work closely with Underwriting, Policyholder Services (PHS), Claims, and Marketing to develop best practices and audits to assure the companies are in compliance with insurance regulations and legislation. Research and assist in responding to complaints and actions against the companies related to compliance. Should have a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school required. Must be admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and in good standing with no record of any professional disciplinary action. Possess high personal standards necessary to handle highly confidential and sensitive matters. Ability to establish amicable and trusted relationships with directors, management and business associates. Should preferably have 2-4 years of experience as a corporate or insurance attorney.
