Associate attorney would be responsible for the following:

  • Conduct research and analyze applicable laws, statutes, regulations and court opinions related to a wide range of practice areas in different jurisdictions, within the scope defined by the Member attorney(s) handling the cases.
  • Conduct research to assist the Member attorney(s) on legal and comparative law matters, including cross-border transactions, jurisdictional and conflict of law questions.
  • Conduct research to prepare legal memoranda for the Member attorney(s) for the purpose of litigation avoidance where applicable and examining legal precedent to determine advisability of defending or initiating legal actions.
  • Conduct research to support the Member attorney(s) in preparing legal drafts, including materials for court case submissions, pleadings, summons, and complaints, answers and counterclaims, and pretrial motions.
  • Conduct research to assist the Member attorney(s) in drafting the discovery-related motions, including motions to compel.
  • Conduct research to assist the Member attorney(s) handling the case with the appeal phase of a case. This includes conducting research to support Member attorney(s) in drafting post-trial motions and identifying the issues for appeal based on court cases.

 

 

Requirements and skills:

The position requires an LL.M. (Master of Laws) or foreign equivalent; bar admission, active membership, and good standing in Pennsylvania or New Jersey or New York; and minimum of 24 months’ experience in complex and multi-context legal research on broad range of legal issues, research experience in US law or comparative law or foreign law as part of an advanced degree in law (JSD or SJD or PhD) is acceptable.

The Associate Attorney reports to Managing Member and other Member attorneys. The position does not require engaging in a supervisory role. The position does not require any travel.
