Public Relations Manager
The candidate increases the firm brand and name recognition in the US marketplace by developing, managing and executing the public relations activities for all US offices, its practice groups and attorneys. Works alongside the other PR Manager and serves as a point person for US public relations requests and partners with US Client Service and Business Development team members on the tasks and initiatives described below. Works very closely with the other members of the PR and Comms team and the International PR team. Proactively seeks to maximize visibility in regional and national media, and partners with international colleagues to identify media specific opportunities to raise the firm's profile both globally and within defined practice groups and industry sectors. Executes day-to-day US public relations initiatives and activities, including developing, pitching and placing bylined articles and stories; preparing attorneys for media interviews, writing and distributing press releases; and identifying speaking opportunities for resident attorneys. Works closely with the Business Development team to understand practice areas and specific partners’ areas of experience to support practice group strategic plans. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with editors, reporters and writers in regional and national markets. Supports social media efforts and campaigns to further elevate lawyers, practice areas and the firm brand. Manages and implements an awards strategy plan (individual attorney awards, firm awards, etc.). Manages the US public relations database of news clips. Evaluates and reports on the effectiveness of public relations efforts. Establishes processes and procedures to enhance productivity and streamline job flow. Assists with or implements other special projects or tasks as needed assigned by the Director of Comms and PR, Chief Business Development and Client Service Officer, attorneys, Business Development Managers, Directors or Managing Partner. Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university, preferred concentration in public relations, communications, marketing or similar field. Some global experience is required. Should have 5-7 years of public relations or related experience within a professional services environment and ideally within a large law firm with global scope. Experience managing internal staff and external consultants is required.
