Basic Function

Supply Chain is a customer-focused Center of Excellence providing industry-leading service while delivering differential value to the business, today and into the future. We separate our Supply Chain functions into several areas; these include logistics, customer fulfillment, services, trade compliance, and support for business processes and systems.​

As a member of our dynamic Supply Chain team, you will play a critical role in helping us supply our products to a global customer base. In this contributing through others role, you will be responsible for managing the cost, reliability, and service of our logistics operations to be consist with business objectives and goals. This position will support either Rail, Marine & Terminals, or Truck & Warehouse. During a typical day, you will lead all commercial and operational Supply Chain activities for the specified mode of transportation.

This position reports to the Director, Supply Chain Americas and is located at our North American Headquarters in Downtown Houston. The position offers a competitive base salary, bonus, 401K matching, generous benefits package, pension plan, parking subsidy and employee discounts.

Roles & Responsibilities

Manage logistics team to support reliable logistics service for specified mode of transportation including operational, commercial, and transportation compliance activities with annual spend between $200MM-$500MM (10-15 FTE).

Act as a liaison with Supply Chain leadership, operations planning, commercial business, manufacturing, transportation compliance, and external Logistics Service Providers.

Drive benchmark culture which may include, but not limited to, development of organizational metrics and gap closure solutions, supporting Advancing Competitiveness initiatives, and fostering a GoalZero culture internally and with our Logistics Service Providers.

Develop standard guidelines and operational procedures to maximize operational effectiveness while minimizing expense.

Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPI) that ensure compliance, operations excellence, cost leadership and improvement initiatives.

Operating Discipline

Create efficient Lead-to-Cash processes while also identifying and managing Supply Chain risks.

Ensure timely/accurate incident reporting and investigations are conducted to properly identify root cause and implement preventative measures.

Responsible for ensuring LYB owned assets and transportation activities are compliant with regulatory requirements and LYB standards.

Logistics Procurement

Accountable for North America logistics costs as well as to develop solutions for deviations from business plan to ensure performance metrics are met.

Ensure logistics network is maintained and optimized to provide best in class logistic costs.

Develop commodity strategies and sourcing plans for each of the services procured, implement those plans, and measure vendor performance ensuring alignment with procurement standards and LYB control guidelines.

Maintain relationships with vendors to ensure strong, productive, and honest interaction throughout the relationship/contract/agreement. Maintain strong business relationships both internally and externally.

Min. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years’ experience

in Supply Chain, logistics, business, manufacturing or other related experience.

A Bachelor’s degree is required.

Master’s Degree or MBA preferred.

The ideal candidate will have managerial courage as well as the desire to grow and develop people.

The ideal candidate will have excellent negotiating skills, good judgment & results orientation.

Commercial acumen and business understanding are required for this role.

Demonstratable ability to perform in a fast-paced environment that requires rapid decision-making and task delegation with immediate impact on business results.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’

managerial/supervisory experience preferred.

Meets qualifications for Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Proven success to deliver strong business results and lead continuous improvement

Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

Able to maintain professionalism and prioritize multiple responsibilities concurrently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Analytical skills and the ability to apply them to purchasing decisions.

Composed in time-sensitive situations, comfortable delivering difficult news.

Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, BI, and Bourque.

Experience with ERP software such as SAP is desired.
