Director, Data Privacy

The Candidate will be responsible for in coordination with the Office of General Counsel (OGC), review and advise on contracts involving the collection, protection, transfer or and use of regulated data, and offering guidance on ways to minimize privacy compliance risks. Manage breach notifications required by federal and state law and serve as liaise with federal and state oversight agencies. Conduct privacy risk assessments. Partner with Legal, Audit, ITS and business partners to implement enterprise wide privacy compliance program. Collaborate with Information Security to ensure alignment between security and privacy compliance programs including policies, practices and investigations. Conduct ongoing compliance monitoring activities in coordination with the university’s other compliance and operational assessment functions. Maintain current knowledge of applicable international, federal and state privacy laws and regulations. Develop privacy training materials and other communications to train employees and third parties, as appropriate, on university privacy policies, data handling practices and procedures and legal obligations. Lead or participate on privacy-related university committees. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
