Description

The Accountant 1 performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedules. Conducts or assists in the documentation of accounting projects. The Accountant 1 work assignments are often straightforward and of moderate complexity.

Responsibilities

The Accountant 1 prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Provides financial support, including forecasting, budgeting and analyzing variations from budget. Analyzes and prepares statutory accounts, financial statements and reports. Understands own work area professional concepts/standards, regulations, strategies and operating standards. Makes decisions regarding own work approach/priorities, and follows direction. Work is managed and often guided by precedent and/or documented procedures/regulations/professional standards with some interpretation.

Create, review and track journal entries and accruals for monthly financial close

Reconcile and validate Revenue and Admin Expenses for the Home Solutions programs

Track and update daily, weekly and monthly financial metrics and reports

Drive accounting process improvements

Complete special Accounting projects with varied and complex components

Perform ad-hoc and routine duties associated with Accounting

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Less than 3 years of technical experience

Previous experience doing data analysis

Intermediate Excel experience

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

Prior financial reporting and analysis experience

Previous health insurance industry experience working in a Finance/Accounting department

Additional Information:

Location for this role is Louisville, KY (Hybrid work location, both at-home and in-office options to be discussed with leader) or Work At Home
