General Counsel
The candidate will report to the Chief Financial Officer and perform work to examine title reports on residential real estate, prepare contracts, file mechanic’s liens and update internal project tracking. Develop and refine legal strategy related to the day-to-day execution of contracts, contractor licensing and, business entity licensing across multiple jurisdictions, handle all breach of contracts and other legal dispute. Manage the contracts team. Stay current on various state laws affecting construction contracts and licensing requirements, and maintain ongoing communication with outside counsel in each market to ensure such compliance. Constantly monitor projects for default and send default and collection letters as needed. Work with the CFO to renew all corporate insurance policies. Work closely with the permits and production team on any licenses or updates needed and any project escalations. Modify contract documents based on deal-specific negotiations by the sales team, and work closely with the sales team to work through any contract issues, assess risk management and answer all questions from the realtors and clients regarding contract issues. Work with the finance team for payoffs, lien waivers and any other closing documents needed. Coordinate with Human Resources and outside counsel on all employment-related issues. Prepare and negotiate NDAs. Review partnership agreements and various marketing agreements, all third-party contracts and IT agreements. Should have 3-5 years of experience at a relevant law Corporate experience. Direct experience in residential real estate. Experience in home improvement contracts is a plus.
