Job Description

Principal Electrical Engineer 

We are a team of world-class analog, digital and firmware designers committed to building the next generation of ASoCs. This position is for an experienced CPU/MCU Digital Designer interested in excellent personal and professional growth opportunities.  The ideal candidate will be comfortable working at the RTL/HW level as well as optimizing C/Assembly firmware code. This position requires an individual skilled in making architectural and circuit implementation decisions.  Our business relies on the ingenuity and inventiveness of our design group to deliver differentiating features and performance to our customers. You will interface with other engineering teams within the business unit, including your analog and firmware design counterpart for SOCs.  Our engineering teams work together to deliver high-quality execution and first-silicon success. 

Job responsibilities:

Architect and implement embedded processor systems in sub-45nm mixed-signal CMOS SOCs.  This will include driving IP choice and configuration, designing the IP interfaces with the other digital subsystems, optimizing for current consumption, designing custom instructions, designing custom memory and peripheral interfaces, and communicating with the IP vendor and firmware team.

Apply your expertise to architect processor subsystem functionality, performance and implementation.  

Validate the embedded processor IP and contribute to system-level testing and silicon evaluation. 

Minimum Requirements: 

Proven track record of exceptional performance in digital circuit design 

12 years (BSEE), 10 years (MSEE) or 6 years (Phd) of relevant industry experience 

Experience integrating ARM, RISC-V, or other commercially available processor cores 

Experience with DMA engines, arbiters, APB/AHB/AXI or other bus interfaces 

Experience with processor architecture trade-offs; memory architecture, etc. 

Experience in implementation with Verilog and System Verilog 

Professional, open and highly self-motivated attitude 

Preferred Skills and experience: 

Hands-on design in sub-45nm CMOS 

Low-power implementation techniques 

Audio DSP methods 

Programming languages: Python, C 

Scripting and automation

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD 

$122,000

$231,000

 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits
