Climate Advisor
Duties: The candidate will be a key member of our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Group, and will work directly with attorneys and staff in a client facing role on a broad range of issues related to climate change, sustainability, corporate governance, and social purpose. Responsibilities will include providing advice to clients on their climate-related governance, strategy, risk management, and relevant targets and metrics, as well as the identification of relevant ESG issues for a range of companies, the collection and analysis of key climate- and ESG- performance metrics, the preparation of client facing reports, and research and writing on emerging climate and ESG trends. Using established research and analytics skills, the Climate Advisor will play a critical role in executing on internal and client deliverables, and will be a key support in the ongoing development of our ESG practice. Will have significant exposure to public companies, investment managers, and a wide range of privately held portfolio companies. Discretion, integrity and respect for confidential information are essential. Will report directly to the ESG Business Intelligence Advisor, and will work in close partnership with attorneys and other staff in the ESG Group and other experts at the firm to support ESG Group and client goals. Provide advice and assist clients in implementing climate risk assessments, including the identification of relevant physical and transition risks for companies across a wide range of industries. Prepare and implement transition plans and climate strategies for our clients, including the identification of climate risk management processes and procedures across different industries. Advise and assist clients in conducting greenhouse gas emissions inventories, including identifying emissions boundaries and material categories of Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions. Provide support to clients and in the preparation of climate- and ESG-related disclosures, including disclosures aligned with the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures, the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, and other relevant ESG frameworks and standards. Provide advice, training and presentations to client management and directors regarding climate-specific topics, for instance climate scenario modeling or the Science Based Targets initiative. Collaborate with the ESG Group to prepare reports and other deliverables on a range of climate- and ESG-related topics, including the preparation of data visualizations and written reports. Stay informed of climate- and ESG-related trends, including ESG related regulations, guidance frameworks, and corporate best practice, and contribute to ESG thought leadership. Handle other related duties as required. Deliver strong customer service, commit to meeting deadlines, and multitask in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Understand law firm processes and attorney-client relationships. Appropriately prioritize to execute tasks across several projects with complex variables and budgets. Collaborate with teams of partners, associates and other professionals at all levels. Demonstrate exceptional problem solving and communication skills, both written and verbal. Exhibit a high degree of initiative. Ability to research, collect, manipulate, and analyze data.
