Senior Tax Manager – Transaction & Technical Advisory Part-Time
The candidate will work with other practice units and TAS engagement shareholders/managers as part of a coordinated client service team approach to client transactions. Provide partnership technical expertise to engagement teams and clients to assist identifying optimal tax saving transaction structures and planning to achieve client goals in connection with the following: formation, operation and liquidation of partnerships, mergers, divisions, additional contributions, distributions, interest transfers and redemptions. Analyze and negotiate operating agreement provisions to determine substantial economic effect and position our clients in the best tax position. Provide relevant industry knowledge and insight to engagement teams and clients. Provide partnership technical assistance to engagement teams as needed. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on compliance engagement teams with heavy partnership tax technical needs. Research and analyze a wide range of tax issues and implications as part of the national tax team. Stay informed of current and proposed tax legislation, communicating potential impacts to the firm and clients. Assist with planning and implementation of new and proposed legislation. Oversee cost segregation engagement workflow through senior resources in each office. Participate in evaluation of and potentially oversee bringing current outsourced services in-house. Be a tax department resource for fixed assets and depreciation related issues. Assist with engagement profitability and prepare and analyze monthly billing for any assigned engagements. Provide leadership, counseling and career guidance for the development and motivation of managers and seniors. Represent the firm and build relationships by attending fundraisers, meetings with prospects/bankers, charitable events, professional organizations, etc. Work as a team on internal initiatives that promote firm growth, culture, technical tax content development and technological advances. CPA, J.D., LL.M, Masters in Taxation or Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (CMI) designation. Minimum of five years of public accounting experience in tax is required. Strong partnership tax technical skills and creative planning ability regarding transaction structuring. Ability to manage and coordinate special projects with shareholders and other engagement managers. Ability to foster client relationships. Strong leadership, training and mentoring skills. Excellent writing, communication and tax research skills.
