Job Title: Complex Construction Claims Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Woodbury, NY is actively seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to handle complex construction-related matters, including professional liability claims involving architects and engineers. This hybrid position offers an excellent opportunity for mid-level attorneys to join a high-volume practice in a collaborative and forward-moving litigation environment. The ideal candidate brings strategic thinking, strong litigation skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently while working closely with seasoned litigators.

Duties:

• Manage a personal caseload involving complex construction disputes and professional liability matters

• Prepare and draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses

• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on case law and procedural issues

• Attend court appearances, hearings, and case management conferences

• Handle all aspects of depositions, including taking and defending

• Participate in site inspections and coordinate with subject-matter experts

• Engage in mediation sessions and other alternative dispute-resolution processes

• Assist with trial preparation and attend trial as needed

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of litigation experience in construction claims, professional liability, or related fields

• Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing

• Proven ability to handle high-volume caseloads with minimal supervision

• Familiarity with electronic legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw)

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to practice in New York State

• Additional Bar admissions are a plus

Skills:

• Excellent legal research and analytical writing abilities

• High attention to detail with the capacity to manage competing priorities

• Confident oral advocacy and interpersonal communication skills

• Strategic thinking with a problem-solving approach to litigation

• Experience working with expert witnesses and technical reports preferred
