Director Of Human Resources
RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct maintenance of updated, competitive, industry-standard employee handbook, employment policies and job descriptions. Administer compensation, benefits, and performance management systems. Work with Group Heads and CEO to identify staff vacancies and direct the recruitment and interview process to select the best applicants. Allocate human resources, ensuring appropriate matches between personnel. Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties and expectations, compensation, and employee benefits. Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing and overstaffing, refereeing disputes, and administering disciplinary procedures. Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of Paralegals (with Group Heads) and Admins. Maintain personnel records. Maintain records and compile reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, turnover rates, etc. Analyze statistical data in conjunction with partner discussions to determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organization’s personnel policies and practices. Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee terminations. Advise partners and managers on organization policy matters such as equal opportunity, sensitivity issues and sexual harassment and recommend needed changes. Ensure firm complies with administration of disability, FMLA, VESSA and all other relevant HR laws. Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to make sure firm is competitive within the marketplace. Plan and conduct new employee orientation to make sure performance expectations are clear and to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives. Analyze training needs to design employee development programs for continuous growth and engagement of employees. Responsible for making sure the firm is utilizing best industry practices with respect to Human Resources functions. Responsible for outside vendor relationship with respect to health and welfare benefits. Responsible for payroll administration.
