Domestic Relations Attorney Summary

A well-established law firm in Northern New York with offices in Watertown, Canton, and Carthage seeks divorce and family law attorneys with experience in these areas to join our team. We are actively seeking attorneys to step into these positions in our Watertown and Canton offices and excel. Salary is extremely competitive and there is plenty of opportunity for advancement. We are well staffed with experienced paralegals, support staff, and attorneys. We have an excellent reputation and a steady case flow.

The ideal candidates for these positions are attorneys who:

possess courtroom and trial experience as well as experience interacting with clients and negotiating with others in the legal field;

are team players ready, willing and able to collaborate with our extensive and experienced support staff and attorneys to continue and develop a strong legal practice

have a strong work ethic and the ability to manage a fast paced practice within the support network of our established firm

live in the beautiful Thousand Islands region of New York or who are willing to relocate here

Responsibilities

representation of clients in matrimonial and/or domestic relations matters from consultation to trial

responsibility for time-keeping and billing with the assistance of our in-house accounting department and advanced billing software

collaborating with and delegating tasks to our domestic relations team of attorneys and paralegals to ensure efficient and effective representation of clients

management of an individual caseload with the assistance and support of our attorneys and staff

Domestic Relations Attorney Requirements and Qualifications

J.D. Degree

Current or pending New York State law license

Member of the Bar in good standing

4 years matrimonial and/or family law experience preferred

Courtroom or legal research experience, preferably in family law and/or divorce

Strong aptitude for litigation and negotiation

The ability to empathize while remaining professional

Sound drafting and research skills
