Duties: Trusted advisor and business partner to leadership with responsibility for the delivery of US and international labor, employment, and data privacy legal services.
Member of General Counsel Leadership Team responsible for the strategy and provision of legal services. Coordinate with other members of GCLT on employment law related matters. Partner with HR Leadership including the Chief People Officer and HR Leadership Team Plus on developing HR policies, processes and initiatives including Inclusion and Diversity initiatives. Provision of day to day and strategic advice to Human Resources department and business units regarding employment law matters. Proactive spotting of employment legal issues and addressing them to minimize risk and help create a positive workplace culture. Overall responsibility for delivery of employment legal services including managing and developing internal and external global labor and employment team. Internal team includes at least 3 attorneys and 4 Dispute Resolution, HR Compliance, and Legal Support professionals. Overall responsibility for and direct management of employment claims and litigation filed in the US and international jurisdictions including budgeting and managing legal costs and early resolution of these matters. Employment litigation management responsibilities include retention and close management of outside counsel, negotiating fee agreements, overseeing discovery collection and production including electronic discovery, directing litigation and resolution strategy, communicating with legal department, HR and business unit management regarding status of litigation. Responsibilities also include managing and directing the litigation management by other attorneys in the employment law department. Overall responsibility for the company’s data privacy function including GDPR and data privacy program management and provision of advice related to international data privacy laws to HR and business units. Management of Global Dispute Resolution Program. Management of HR compliance function (Affirmative Action Plans, OFFCP audits/compliance, reduction in force reviews, accommodations reviews). Coordinate with Code of Business Conduct regarding employment-related investigations. Make recommendations regarding appropriate corrective action in response to investigations. Develop and execute proactive strategies to improve knowledge and awareness of employment law compliance. Advise Human Resources and Labor Relations on union issues. This includes review of collective bargaining agreements and grievances, as well as NLRB charges. Represent the company in union arbitrations and NLRB proceedings. Advise managers and HSE professionals regarding state and federal OSHA matters. Oversee nd responsibility for the completion of special employment law related projects as needed.
