Seton Hall University School of Law welcomes applications for tenure-track positions at the rank of Associate and Full Professor to begin July 1, 2023. Candidates must have a J.D. or equivalent degree and a record of academic excellence. Candidates should demonstrate (i) scholarly promise or accomplishment, (ii) the ability or potential to be an outstanding teacher and mentor who can prepare students for the practice of law, and (iii) leadership in service toward building an equitable and diverse academic community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
We will consider entry-level and lateral candidates in a variety of subject areas. We have particular teaching needs in administrative law, civil procedure, contracts/business associations, clinics, estates and trusts, evidence, and FDA, but we also are interested in candidates engaged in scholarship and teaching in race and gender, employment/labor, environmental law, family law, international law, and professional responsibility.
Seton Hall Law School offers a vibrant, energetic academic environment. Located in downtown Newark, New Jersey, approximately 20 minutes from Manhattan, Seton Hall Law is especially well-regarded in the health and life sciences, intellectual property, cybersecurity, and privacy arenas, and it is in the process of expanding its role in energy, gaming/sports, technology, and data analytics. The Law School faculty has a long tradition of robust scholarly collaboration and support, and the administration works creatively with each faculty member to develop a teaching package (expected load of 10-12 credits per year without an expectation of pre-tenure release time) that meets individual needs and preferences consistent with serving students.
Seton Hall University is committed to programs of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and the values and goals of diversity. The University recognizes that bias, oppression, discrimination, and prejudice may pose threats to our community, and we commit ourselves to empathy and to critical self-examination and positive action. The Law School therefore aspires to be a leader among its peer institutions in responding to the needs and concerns of an increasingly diverse population and working towards equity and justice. In an effort to enrich our academic environment, we actively encourage applications from members of historically underrepresented groups and those invested in our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging: https://law.shu.edu/about/diversity/index.cfm.
