Attorney Compensation Manager
The candidate develops, implements, and manages the attorney compensation programs for the firm. Develops compensation philosophy and strategy to increase simplicity, efficiency, and transparency in compensation policies and related information. Addresses and resolves questions, complaints, and requests for adjustments related to individual compensation matters including reduced hours and special compensation. Oversees, facilitates, and participates in the annual processes for determining individual compensation, including salaries and bonuses. Oversees the production and reporting of aggregate and individual compensation data. Ensures attorney compensation models are effective, well understood, and readily articulated, while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements. Serves as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert in attorney compensation matters. A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in finance, economics, statistics, mathematics or accounting. An MBA or JD is a plus. Should have 5 years of accounting and/or compensation systems experience in a manager-level role in a professional services organization, preferably a law firm, supporting a multi-office environment. Advanced skill level of standard MS Office applications, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently. Knowledge of SQL applications a plus. Experience with people systems, preferably Workday. Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment demonstrating reliability, dependability and flexibility, and to establish effective, collaborative working relationships throughout operational groups. Exceptional ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with sophisticated audiences about complicated and/or sometimes disputed compensation matters. Ability to respond to groups and individuals regarding compensation matters with accuracy, diplomacy, and tact, and to apply good judgment and use powers of persuasion to positively influence constituents. Exceptional problem solving and analysis skills. Ability to analyze and understand significant amounts of data and complicated processes and calculations, and to apply creativity to find solutions to complex problems. Exceptional organizational, process, and follow-through skills. Ability to prioritize assignments, work independently, and manage complicated, multipart processes executed simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and critical deadlines, and to handle stressors related to the position and high interpersonal interaction. Capacity to keep confidential any information, observations or viewpoints regarding firm business matters.
