Associate Managing Clerk
The candidate will file papers (via CM/ECF and NYSCEF) and/or arrange for filing by hand in hard copy, ensuring delivery of working copies and courtesy copies of pleadings, motions, and other court papers as needed. Docket and calendar court papers, including opening new matters and preparing firmwide calendar reports. Set-up and maintain the Firm’s electronic case alerts and docket monitors. Assist with attorney admissions and e-filing registration. Request transcripts from court appearances (nationwide, in both state and federal court), ensuring timely turnaround and payment. Arrange for by-hand service of papers upon adverse parties and opposing counsel, as well as routine deliveries to local state and federal agencies (e.g., the Secretary of State, NYS Office of Court Administration). Obtain online dockets and documents upon request, arranging for outside services to retrieve copies of archived filings or pleadings filed in hard copy as needed. Answer court procedure, practice, and policy questions where appropriate. Perform such other duties that may be assigned from time to time that are reasonable and appropriate for the position. Should have Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ experience in a New York Managing Clerk’s Office or Managing Attorney’s Office, including experience answering questions about formatting of court papers and filing protocols. Deep understanding of docketing- and filing-related technologies (e.g., CourtAlert, eDockets, Bloomberg Law); are familiar with the CPLR, Uniform Civil Rules including the Rules of the Commercial Division, FRCP, and FRAP; and are proficient with Excel is required. Should have Notary Public.
