Job Overview:
A Cincinnati-based law firm with a robust litigation team is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Insurance and Reinsurance practice group. This opportunity involves advising on intricate coverage issues and handling sophisticated disputes under professional liability, general liability, and D&O insurance policies. The position requires a strong foundation in civil litigation and offers the chance to work on complex, high-exposure matters within a nationally respected team.

Duties:

• Analyze and interpret various insurance policy provisions, including professional, general, and D&O liability policies

• Handle all phases of litigation, including:

  • Drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, and briefs

  • Managing written discovery and motion practice

  • Conducting depositions

  • Representing clients in court appearances, as appropriate to the experience level

• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement a litigation strategy

• Interface with clients to provide strategic legal guidance

• Contribute to business development and client relationship management initiatives

• Maintain accountability for case progress, deadlines, and deliverables with minimal supervision

Requirements:

• 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in insurance coverage litigation and commercial disputes

• Solid command of insurance law concepts and procedures

• Demonstrated ability to handle complex matters with attention to detail and efficiency

• Prior exposure to high-stakes or high-value insurance or reinsurance matters is advantageous

• Comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively within a litigation team

• Interest in growing client relationships and contributing to practice development

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active membership in the State Bar, with the ability to practice law in Ohio (or willingness to obtain admission)

Skills:

• Exceptional legal research and analytical writing abilities

• Strong oral advocacy and communication skills

• Strategic problem-solving mindset with a client-focused approach

• Proficiency in managing multiple cases and competing priorities

• Familiarity with electronic discovery tools and litigation support platforms is preferred
