Senior Legal Counsel

The candidate will collaborate with CHS legal counsel and paralegals to meet the legal needs of the Strategic Sourcing group, working with CHS Country Operations, Global Grain, Energy and Food Processing, Agronomy and other CHS divisions. Provide accurate and timely counsel to business leaders on a variety of legal topics. Research and identify risk factors impacting business decisions and operations. Communicate and negotiate with third party vendors. Provide clarification on legal language and specifications in a variety of commercial agreements. Review, draft and solidify a wide array of commercial agreements, including but not limited to product and service procurement, sales agreements, manufacturing agreements, confidentiality agreements, construction agreements, technology agreements, including (software as a service, software licenses, end user license agreements, and data privacy addendums both international and domestic locations). Partner with legal colleagues and business units to develop efficient and thorough contracting processes. Develop and grow business acumen to support each business group. Advise business leaders on compliance with applicable laws and regulations (including but not limited to transportation, environmental, food/feed safety, and competition). Assist in a request for proposal and request for quote processes. Partner closely with members of the sourcing team to develop strong, trusted working relationships with the business leaders enabling the execution of agreements that meet sourcing, technology and commercial business initiatives. Champion and promote a strong safety culture, follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations, identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
