The candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the University’s Equity and Title IX Office. Manages non-discrimination investigations with a particular emphasis on investigating alleged cases of harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, and sexual violence as it relates to Title IX, Title VI and Title VII. Work closely with the Assistant Vice President, Equity and Title IX Officer and key stakeholders to conduct investigations of reports of sex discrimination and sexual misconduct and makes findings of fact to resolve complaints. Receives and conducts informal and formal investigations of reports and complaints of discrimination and misconduct as it relates to as it relates to Title IX, Title VI and Title VII. This includes evaluating whether alleged conduct may constitute prohibited sex discrimination or sexual misconduct; conducting timely initial investigations, ensuring that related materials are reviewed promptly and parties to an incident are interviewed; and maintaining records related to investigations. Develops investigation plans, conducts interviews, identifies and collects relevant information, analyzes evidence and data, applies policy, and prepares a detailed written investigative findings report based on a preponderance of the evidence. Assures compliance with timelines, acts as an impartial party, maintains a high level of confidentiality and discretion, and ensures a prompt, fair and neutral process for all parties. Provides interim and protective measures, guidance, and assistance to complainants and respondents. Develops, coordinates with other departments, and/or implements ongoing training, consultation, and technical assistance on issues related to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and VAWA for students, faculty, and staff. Builds and disseminates educational materials that inform members of the campus community about the responsibilities of the Title IX Office, as well as anti-harassment and non-discrimination laws. Other duties as assigned. Juris Doctorate preferred, or equivalent in education, training and experience. Requisite knowledge, training and experience related to Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, OCR and related regulations and conducting investigations required. Should have 3+ years of experience conducting prompt, thorough, and equitable investigations regarding allegations of harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, and sexual violence or equivalent legal experience. Must have Certification as a Title IX Coordinator/Investigator (or within 3 months of the first date of employment). Should have experience handling confidential information with tact, discretion, and sensitivity. Experience working in a college campus environment required. Must have demonstrated strong skill in writing concise, logical analytical reports to convey complex issues. Should have strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
