We are seeking a solicitor (4 years pqe up to Junior SA) with experience in environment and planning matters and specifically with water law experience to join our busy and growing Sydney team.
Our work
You will be involved with challenging and complex legal work which often sets the pace in the market. In this role, you will be assisting Michael Causer
, Michelle Astridge
and Kate Dean
, Partners in our Environment and Planning team who provides specialist advice on the full range of environment, planning and native title issues – particularly in relation to real estate and infrastructure projects. You will also work closely with Trudy Sheehan
a Special Counsel in our team who specialises in land use, water rights, and planning & environmental law advice for the infrastructure, agribusiness, energy and resources and real estate sectors.
This role will see you work across a full range of environment and planning matters including disputes, judicial review proceedings, regulator enforcement matters and the provision of major project planning and environmental advice. You will also work on water law matters in connection with agribusiness transactions and advise across the full scope of water rights issues.

The team works with an enviable range of national and international blue chip clients including mining companies, property developers, statutory authorities, and State and Local Government.
You will have
recognised environment and planning experience within the real estate and infrastructure sectors
experience acting for clients on water law matters is essential
excellent analytical, communication and research skills - to deliver prompt and commercially astute advice
strong commitment to client service and well-developed relationship management ability - you will play a key role in supporting and actively developing our relationships with our clients
team focus - to mentor junior colleagues and ensure the effective utilisation of the group
enthusiasm to be involved in business development activities - presenting at industry related programs and managing strategic relationships and network
first rate experience of drafting documents (including agreements, contracts, deeds, court documents etc.
