Duties: Advise on compliance best practices across all aspects of global data protection laws, including employee data, business data analytics, data retention, use/sharing, data security and data breaches. Partner with business and engineering teams to implement privacy and data controls, and evangelize privacy best practices for customer, employee, partner, and vendor personal information. Prepare and manage the implementation of internal and customer-facing privacy and data governance policies and related communications. Creatively build upon and drive awareness around privacy and data security issues, including developing and delivering training on relevant privacy, data security, and data governance-related matters. Review collection, use, and transfers of data and draft privacy policies and disclosures. Assess and respond to potential privacy and security risks and regulatory requirements. Support the negotiation of contractual clauses relating to privacy and data protection. Develop and enhance workflows and processes for proactively addressing and responding to privacy- and data governance-related matters. Help evolve and refine Applied Materials’ data governance and protection strategy, including records management, policies, and procedures while ensuring alignment with privacy and security policies. Monitor and advise on the potential business impact of new, pending or proposed federal, state, and foreign legislation, rules and regulations, as well as industry developments and trends, related to privacy, data security, and data governance that may affect the company and its operations. Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the products and objectives of the company. Efficiently leverage outside counsel in areas of coverage within budget.
