We are seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA to administer and support numerous SQL Server databases in Ford Enterprise Data Centers and plants. This position requires an exceptional technical knowledge of SQL Server. The successful candidate also needs to be able work well in a global team environment that interacts with Data Architects, Application Developers, Server Administrators, Planners, Vendors, Server/Database Engineering and Plant IT Operations teams. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to investigate complex issues, identify root causes, recommend solutions along with benefits, risks and deployment strategies. In addition to having solid technical skills, the candidate must have also excellent written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge with both customers and fellow team members. The work will be performed in the Dearborn area as a member of a team of SQL DBAs. There will be occasional off-shift work to provide on-call coverage (in a rotation) for production-support incidents and to support scheduled changes to applications after hours. Our DBA team supports SQL Server 2000 through SQL 2012, Standard and Enterprise Editions. Daily responsibilities include: .supporting SQL Server mirrored databases and clustered environments. .reviewing/resolving backup issues .installing/maintaining/upgrading SQL Server binaries/instances/databases .migrating/refreshing databases .database failovers/recoveries .supporting database structure changes and data changes for Application development/testing/deployment .enforcing IT policy and security requirements for database access and controls .performance tuning with application teams .working with a wide variety of customers that have varying skills and a diverse set of needs .using ticketing systems that coordinate incoming incidents and customer requests .using change control systems to coordinate changes with other teams
Skills Required:
The applicant needs to have at least 8 years of recent SQL Server DBA experience which includes SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2005. The applicant must be able to demonstrate strong technical skills in the use of the components of SQL Server and troubleshooting of SQL Server issues. The individual must be a solid team player with good verbal communication and writing skills. The applicant must be able to work well with all types of customers.
Experience Required:

Experience Preferred:
