Contract Counsel - Commercial Contracts
The candidate serves as Contracts Counsel advising business partners on the legal risk associated with proposed transactions while managing an active workload of commercial contract negotiations. Consults with business and functional colleagues to draft and negotiate a variety of standard and non-standard contracts, and other legal documents related to the procurement of goods and services in accordance with business needs. Confers with other members of the Legal Department and subject matter experts, as needed, to ensure contracts comply with internal policies. Advises on contracting policy and process standards in response to internal (e.g., supply chain, vendor management, audit, IT, etc.) and external inquiries (e.g., customer contracts, POs, etc.), as appropriate. Communicates status of contract negotiations and reviews to clients and other members of the Legal Department. Maintains contract management database, as required. Performs other duties, as assigned. Should have 3-5 Years of experience in commercial contract drafting and negotiations. Juris Doctor and admission to at least one active US State Bar (in good standing) required. Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (construction contracts experience strongly preferred). Identify opportunities and strategies for process improvement and risk control; collaborate with and influence teams on operational processes and initiatives; provide training and guidance to groups across different functions; assess technology initiatives and assist with integration and adoption. Experience working with or in a fast-paced environment is preferred. Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple priorities to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines. A goal-oriented leader with the ability to influence and drive change in a fast-paced, complex organization, including the ability to interface at multiple levels of the organization. Willingness to take on additional tasks and projects outside of core areas of expertise. Ability to balance working autonomously and collaboratively in a highly dynamic fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively explain complex legal issues to non-lawyers.
