As a Therma-Tru Industrial Engineer you will have the opportunity to be a change agent and drive the continuous improvement efforts in the production of our industry leading fiberglass and steel entry door systems. You will lead data-driven safety, quality, and productivity improvement projects using tools including Lean, PDCA, and Six Sigma. You will actively take part in root cause analysis, process documentation, and implementation of corrective actions to solve problems. You will work with and lead dynamic teams to prepare and implement capital improvement projects and drive the development of capable and robust products and processes. The Senior Industrial Engineer, will find ways to prevent waste and inefficiency in production processes. They will design efficient systems that integrate workers, information, machines, energy and materials to make products or provide services. The industrial engineer will also design equipment to coordinate production planning to minimize production issues and costs while ensuring products meet quality standards. They will design, develop and maintain manufacturing routes to maximize effectiveness, efficiency and space. The industrial engineer will also make sure the company complies with all industry standards for safety while meeting design standards and guidelines. They will also work in a support role as needed on less complex projects such as:
1) Actively participate in the VBS (Values Based Safety) Program
2) Participate in incident investigations and resolutions
3) Develop process improvements with a \u201csafety first\u201d attitude regarding material handling.
4) Immediately address any potential safety issues with the appropriate personnel
5) Review and evaluate ergonomic and safety concerns and risks for all activities and projects
You will lead the transformation in the Butler Manufacturing Operations as well as company-wide with regards to Industrial Engineering. You will drive improvements through all facets of the Value Stream from supplier to customer. This position is essential in developing a culture of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing.
Develop TTB Standards and Sustainability for such Standards. Including but not limited to:
CI Overhaul and system
Collaborate with safety and operations to insure alignment.
Plant Standards \u2013 ERP, routing, signage, markings, etc.
Act as an agent for cultural change and challenge the status quo
Lead and facilitate process improvements and strategic capital projects
Lead cross functional teams in utilizing value stream mapping to define current and future state
Support the development and use of plant standards for 5S and visual management
Collaborate with plant and corporate Continuous Improvement teams to share best practices
Develop standards utilizing Industrial Engineering techniques including time study, spaghetti diagrams and value stream mapping.
Review production information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services. This includes, but is not limited to, production schedules, process flows and engineering specs
Successful candidates will have:
4 year technical degree required, Industrial or Industrial Systems Engineer preferred
5-10 years of industrial engineering experience
Knowledge and application of improvement tools including PDCA, SMED, VSM, 8D Problem Solving, and 5S
Passion and drive to continuously improve plant operations.
Proven interpersonal & communication skills at all organizational levels
Proven & effective facilitation, leadership, mentoring, and training skills.
Knowledge of production processes, costs, quality control, raw materials and other methods for maximizing the efficient manufacture and distribution of goods.
Knowledge of the ways various systems interact and how changes in operations, the environment and other conditions will affect outcomes.
