Mid-level Project Finance Associate

Profile

A law firm seeks an experienced and motivated Project Finance Associate to join its dynamic team in New York. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in project finance, structured financings, and development within the energy and infrastructure sectors. However, candidates with experience in leveraged finance or other financial sectors are also encouraged to apply. This is a unique opportunity to work with major corporations, private equity firms, banks, and financial institutions on high-profile transactions and projects.

Duties

• Advise clients on project finance and development transactions, focusing on energy and infrastructure sectors.
• Structure and negotiate limited recourse financings, including project and structured finance deals.
• Support clients with legal aspects of financing, mergers, and acquisitions within the infrastructure and energy sectors.
• Draft, review, and revise transaction documents such as loan agreements, equity agreements, and other financing-related documents.
• Work closely with senior associates and partners to manage and execute complex transactions.
• Collaborate with clients, investors, financial institutions, and government entities on financing and regulatory matters.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and market developments affecting project finance and infrastructure.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in project finance, development, or related areas such as leveraged finance.
• Strong understanding of energy, infrastructure, and structured finance transactions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and execute complex transactions, both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal matters clearly.
• Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience advising on legal issues related to financing, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to the Bar in the jurisdiction where hired (New York preferred).

• Project Finance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of project finance, including structured finance and development in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
• Transaction Management: Proven experience in managing complex financial transactions, including structuring and negotiating agreements.
