Job Description

The Senior Advisor of Actuarial Services will work with CVS Caremark Medicare Health Plan clients, providing guidance and analytics, including consultations on formulary decisions, plan design and rebate strategies.

Development and use of actuarial tools to support recommendations to clients

Presentation of analysis along with recommendations to client executive and actuarial teams.

Discussions and recommendations in setting overall strategic direction for clients.

Additional duties include:

Analysis on various proposals around Medicare from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other industry players.

Analytical support to Finance, Underwriting, and Trade Relations.

Completing other contractual actuarial services for clients.

Possibly work from home arrangement.

Required Qualifications

At least 5 years of Health Insurance experience, including proven ability to communicate and consult effectively with internal or external clients.

Strong consultative and analytical skills, and demonstrated ability to develop relationships within/outside of the Actuarial Services Department.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage.

Actuarial Skills in the Health Care Industry including knowledge of Actuarial Standards of Practice (ASOPs).

Strong problem solving, writing and communication skills.

Advanced MS Office skills, knowledge of relational databases and warehouses, advanced SQL, OLAP and SAS skills.

Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment, as well as independently.


Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as finance, mathematics, or business.

Accredited Actuary (Associate of the Society of Actuaries or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.)
