Business Development Manager
The candidate will work closely with and supports individual attorneys, assigned sections, industry groups, and the department to create and execute strategic and tactical business development activities. Serve as the main point of contact for day-to-day operations of the sections. Identify opportunities for participation in sponsored events/trade conferences, drafting pitch materials and RFP responses, and recommending cross-selling opportunities when applicable. Track the ROI of various endeavors, conduct research, and competitive intelligence, and monitor section budgets. Partner with section leaders and individual attorneys to develop and execute strategic marketing and business development plans/programs. Initiate and analyze client, market, competitor, and industry research to inform business development strategies. Monitor client and industry news, as directed, to identify business development opportunities and enhance client service. Collaborate with Marketing Communication Manager to develop proactive campaigns that boost awareness, favorability, and engagement. Lead efforts to respond to RFPs, complex pitches, and track information related to RFP status. Ensure the successful execution of client development events, such as seminars and webinars or other networking programs, and evaluate ROI. Manage and track business development budgets. Provide strategic oversight to submissions for ranking authorities, such as Chambers USA, Best Lawyers, and Super Lawyers. Lead the exploration and potential creation of self-serve channels for lawyers or professional staff to extract marketing data biographical information, experience, expertise, and promotional/pitch information. Enable the firm to use business intelligence more effectively to leverage existing client relationships and experience to protect, sustain and grow its business through industry group and client teams. Initiate follow-up on specific action items arising from discussions with attorneys. Assist with firm-wide and group special projects, as needed. BA/BS degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or related field is required. Should have 5-7 years of experience in marketing or business development within a law firm or professional services firm.
