Associate Counsel
Duties: Provide legal advice to the organization, prepare resolutions and forms and participate in major legal action. Recommend appropriate legal strategies and courses of action to meet IEHP’s needs. Provide strategic advice and counsel on the legal impact of new or proposed local, state, federal or managed care legislation or changes in government agency requirements or processes that impact IEHP in the administration of its programs. Advise on legal issues dealing with the health plan’s DHCS contract and Knox-Keene obligations. Communicate with the Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) in regard to seeking approval of regulatory filings and responses to surveys. Provide input and guidance to the compliance department to ensure that there is proper communication and training to staff on compliance and public law requirements. Handle cross-disciplinary legal matters in collaboration with regulatory and business attorneys and other professionals and paraprofessionals. Work collaboratively with a broad range of staff, developing and maintaining strong relationships between the IEHP legal department and IEHP’s other business units. Conduct thorough legal research and prepare executive briefings on legal issues.
