Duties

The biggest responsibility of a Galvanizer is to set up, operate, and tend plating or coating machines to coat metal with chromium, zinc to protect or product surfaces. Duties include:

Immerse product in cleaning and coating solutions for specified times

Remove objects from solutions at periodic intervals and observe objects to verify conformance to specifications

Immerse product in zinc coating material

Observe machines are operating properly. Adjust or stop machines when problems occur

Operate overhead cranes and forklifts

Inspect equipment and product for integrity and safety; report any anomalous conditions.

Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

Understand units of measurement

Prior mechanical experience or being mechanically inclined (capable of recognizing machine issues and irregularities)

Previous forklift experience/certification is a plus

Qualification

Years of Experience: 1

Education: High School/G.E.D
