invites applications for an
AHEC Scholars Manager
. This position develops, manages, and works to expand the AHEC Scholars Program for the western part of Montana. The overall goal and objective for this position is to increase the number of students enrolled in health professions degree programs at UM and Missoula College (MC).
The AHEC Scholars Manager is responsible for administrative duties, program development, implementation, supervision, marketing and communication, and advocacy for the AHEC and Health Careers Opportunity Programs (HCOP) programs. A high degree of initiative is required, along with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work as part of a team. This position reports to the Director of WMT-AHEC and the PI for the Health Careers Opportunity Programs (HCOP) award. This position may supervise college-level students during health professions events.
In addition to general administrative tasks, responsibilities may include:
AHEC Duties:
Assist in developing a clear and compelling message for health professions programs adapted to audiences in written, oral, and online platforms
Plan and direct special events
Identify, manage, and develop project goals/programs in alignment with College of Health objectives, long term goals and strategic plan
Assist in recruiting UM and MC students for the AHEC Scholars program
Advise enrolled AHEC Scholars students
Assist in the development of establishing new health profession training programs
Research and offer service opportunities for students interested in health care programs
Direct social media platforms and assist with other outreach efforts
Research and establish collaborations between UM and external partners
Serve on the College of Health Inter-professional Education (IPE) Steering Committee
Special recruitment and marketing projects for the College of Health
Coordinate simulation-training events for health profession students on campuses across the western region
Manage projects, committees, and boards
Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Responsibilities:
Implement career awareness programs to increase recruitment of disadvantaged students in health careers
Recruit students from Health Professions Shortage Areas in Montana to HCOP pipeline programs
Provide HCOP students with mentorship experience, particularly in primary care
Act as liaison and ambassador for UM HCOP
Encourage students to pursue positions and careers in Health Professions Shortage Areas in Montana

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package
including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
Salary for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
This position is entirely grant funded.
Required Skills
Ability to complete routine office tasks such as: preparing mailings, packets, filing, and processing routine forms and paperwork
Ability to learn and conduct event planning and catering
Ability to schedule meetings and logistics both in person and online
Ability to learn software applications
Knowledge and experience in programmatic development and recruitment
Ability to write and maintain a program budget
Ability to address programmatic flaws
Ability to reach broader audiences and develop messaging and branding
Ability to develop communication strategies
Effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills including the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
Experience in public speaking and giving professional presentations
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in social/behavioral science, education, public administration, or a health-related discipline
At least two (2) years in program coordination and implementation
Understanding of interdisciplinary work and collaboration
Experience in research and a passion for education
Knowledge of current developments in health and healthcare workforce, specific to Montana
Knowledge of on-campus research and institute offerings and programs

WMT-AHEC serves the Western counties of Flathead, Lake, Lincoln, Mineral, Missoula, Sanders, and Ravalli.
