Civil Litigator Attorney

A law firm in Wichita, KS, is seeking an experienced Civil Litigator Attorney to lead a team of Of-Counsel and Associate Attorneys, along with paralegals, legal secretaries, and administrative assistants. The ideal candidate will provide expert legal support and guidance in defending complex personal injury and commercial claims through all phases of litigation, including jury trials.

Duties:

• Lead and manage a team of Of-Counsel and Associate Attorneys, paralegals, legal secretaries, and administrative assistants.
• Provide legal support and guidance in defending complex personal injury and commercial claims through all phases of litigation, including jury trials.
• Perform quality work on a timely basis, ensuring outstanding client service and accurate billing for services provided.
• Draft formal pleadings, motions, correspondence, litigation reports/plans, and litigation budgets.
• Conduct depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Conduct legal research as needed to support client matters and ensure the provision of up-to-date legal advice.
• Work collaboratively with paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient and accurate administration of legal processes.
• Advise and communicate regularly with clients regarding the status of their cases.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to strategize complex cases, provide input on legal strategies, and contribute to the overall success of the firm.
• Participate in jury trials, serving as second chair or first chair depending on complexity and individual experience.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the Kansas State Bar (or eligibility for admission).
• 5-7 years of experience involving the defense of complex personal injury and/or commercial claims through all phases of litigation.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of legal and medical aspects related to defending complex claims.
• Excellent drafting skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with clients, attorneys, and staff.
• Ability to perform substantive legal functions and provide high-quality legal advice.
