Senior Manager, Labor Relations
The candidate will serve as Local 11 union adviser and assist with all labor relations matters. Will be responsible for overseeing employee relations, disability, and workers compensation. Perform special projects as needed, including, but not limited to employee roster, Term Break, temporary staffing, and updating job descriptions and policies. Manage operations and staff involved in the administration and delivery of payroll and personnel programs and services. Develop and coordinate programs and services with appropriate University offices. Hire, train, and supervise staff involved in payroll processing and delivery of specialized personnel services such as training and employment. Schedule, prioritize, and assign work. Assess performance and provide feedback. Counsel or discipline as required. Develop affirmative action plans and goals. Maintain statistics necessary to monitor effectiveness of programs. Interact with the University affirmative action office to provide information and assist in researching complaints. Assist managers and supervisors with staff salary administration. Advise on new hire salaries, salary adjustments, reclassifications, and promotions. Assist in developing job descriptions. Ensure classification and salary practices are consistent with University policy. Participate in and analyze surveys. Make appropriate recommendations. Work with management to project current and future staffing needs. Develop short- and long-range strategic plans for effective recruitment, development, and staff utilization. Establish and maintain planning, control, and reporting activities. Responsible for the internal resolution of employee grievances. Oversee the departmental interface and administration of collective bargaining agreements and grievance procedures. Interact with the benefits, disability, and worker’s compensation offices to distribute benefit information and submit required documentation. Provide research and background information to facilitate administration and delivery of employee benefits. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
