The Role

Be a key member of the outside channel sales team with a particular focus on further developing sales business with new and existing channel customer accounts in an assigned territory. This is a multi-faceted sales role where strong product and market knowledge are expected, while also achieving and exceeding sales targets. This role is also expected to develop, maintain, and grow channel partner relationships. In addition to a rock-solid work ethic and a team-oriented personality, members of our team display creativity, passion, and a desire to break new ground in a constantly shifting technology landscape. An ideal candidate has extensive experience in sales, and managing channel conflicts and brand stewardship. This position can be virtually based in the assigned territory and will require the candidate to conduct sales calls on channel partners, and work on sales-related activities, at the channel partner’s worksites 75% of the time. This is an exempt position with commission sales plan that is linked to performance.

Responsibilities

The primary job duty is performing sales calls and visits with channel partners at their places of business/offices to support and drive their volume of Powerwall product with a keen focus on ensuring an excellent end customer experience.

Meet and exceed sales targets assigned by sales manager.

Build and maintain relationships across the organization of partner accounts.

Be physically present with partners to ensure their education, training, understanding and compliance with program rules, and successful end-customer experiences.

Develop Tesla regional strategy and support partners in implementing that within their businesses with a win/win approach.

Interface with internal operations, training, and product teams to ensure efficient installation practices and scalability of overall business.

Identify, anticipate and develop new business opportunities with accounts and identify suitable product offerings to satisfy customer requirements and unlock additional market.

Identify and close new partners that will support a win/win/win between Tesla, the channel partner, and end customer.

Provide product feedback to technical team regarding fit and applicability of product design and offering.

Maintain an understanding of market dynamics across relevant sectors (e.g. utility, commercial & industrial, residential, etc.) and drivers (e.g. policy/regulation, techno-economics, etc.)

Actively drive Tesla’s sales strategy for the region.

Contribute to techno-economic analysis to assess market opportunities.

Provide high fidelity sales forecasts to business and manufacturing teams.

Provide key market insights to the broader business team.

Provide input on the development of marketing/sales material.

Requirements

6 years minimum relevant work experience

BA/BS or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability

Demonstrated and proven ability to perform job duties independently with impeccable judgment and discretion.

Experience digesting and translating technical requirements and policy/regulatory information for commercial applicability.

Understanding of brand stewardship and its application with third party resellers

Self-motivated & passionate with ability to work effectively in a highly automated & collaborative sales environment

Strong relationship management skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts

Proven track record to meet or exceed targets and goals

Positive and energetic, excellent listening skills, strong writing skills

Proficient with standard corporate productivity tools (email, voicemail, MS Office, internet navigation, CRM applications- preferably Salesforce.com).

All candidates must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check

Valid state driver’s license and acceptable driving history required
