Profile

Description

The Lead Product Owner is responsible for conveying product vision and roadmap to an Agile delivery team by defining user stories and prioritizing product backlog. The Lead Product Owner works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

Responsibilities

Humana is rethinking HR. How might we use product, Agile, and design practices to design HR services that are more delightful for our fellow teammates, efficient, and cost effective? The HR Associate Experience Product Team (AX Products) is looking for a Lead Product Owner to guide our Onboard journey and establish our Depart journey in the future. The Lead Product Owner of Onboarding (caring for the experience of newly hired people) is an existing role being backfilled, and the Onboard journey is well established. As our product team grows, this role may be asked to establish the Depart journey (caring for the experience of people leaving the company).

This is a standard 40 hour per week job, and understood to be fully remote. If you're in the Louisville, Kentucky area or near any of our main office locations, you may utilize office space as much as you need.

Key responsibilities

Serve as high level product owner (like a hybrid product owner and product manager in SAFe) for the end-to-end Onboard journey

Be the hub that connects all various business teams and stakeholders that deliver the onboarding experience

Lead an Agile team or teams within the Scrum framework

Own responsibility for the delivery of incremental business and customer value

Manage a high level backlog of initiatives, epics, and features that will deliver this value

Use data and research to discover opportunities, make strategic decisions, prove delivered value, and make the case for further investment

Inspire and motivate Agile teammates, stakeholders, and leadership through engaging collaboration, communication, presentations, and work culture

Influence and participate in HR's quarterly prioritization process: HR is very deliberate about how we deploy our precious resources, so this role will help submit business cases for prioritization and also be flexible to respond to changes in priorities on a quarterly basis.

Wear many hats, and be flexible! The AX Products team is relatively new, and we are still growing and maturing our practices and business relationships. This role may look more like a typical product owner for a season, and may play more of a product manager role depending on what work is prioritized by our organization. Our focus is on finding and delivering value, and the person in this role should be willing to roll up their sleeves and do whatever is necessary (within an appropriate work-life balance, of course)

Required skills and experience

5 years' experience as product owner or product manager

Experience delivering products on digital platforms (working with developers, testing, delivering requirements, etc.)

Co-creation mindset, excellent collaboration skills

Experience leading Agile teams

Strong written and verbal communication skills (particularly for crisp, inspiring, and effective presentations to leadership and stakeholders)

Ability to draw themes from customer research and data to bring clarity to problem statements and product strategy

Patience, comfort with ambiguity and change

Desired skills (nice to have)

Bachelor's degree or higher

10 years' experience product work (as product owner, product manager, agile delivery, design, etc)

Relevant product owner, product management, or Scrum certification

Experience with the double diamond design methodology, Service Design, Human-centered Design or other design disciplines

Experience with Humana's specific platforms: Microsoft ADO, ServiceNow, Workday, M365

Experience solving onboarding problems, particularly in the ServiceNow onboarding module or Workday Journeys

Supplemental experience delivering non-software products such as services, experiences, events, or physical goods

What it's like to work here

AX Products in HR is a geographically distributed team, so we work mostly remotely. We strive to create a sustainable and engaging work environment, delivering valuable stuff to make the lives of Humana's employees better and more sustainable for the business.

At Humana, we have three core values: caring, curious, and committed. The AX Product Team seeks to care for our fellow associates (Humana's employees) so they are fully supported with easy and delightful HR services as they provide care to Humana's customers and patients. We are committed to Humana's goals for sustainable and impactful growth. And our specific strength is curiosity --seeking to learn our way into surprising solutions inspired by our customers themselves.
