LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC
is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with an 80 year history of service to the children of Central and South Los Angeles. We have an immediate opening for an energetic, experienced manager for the Clinic's Exposition Park outpatient services programs. The Coordinator will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing mental health services to children and their families/caregivers, including community-based services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Clinic's Director of Outpatient Services, the Coordinator will serve as a member of the Clinic’s Management Staff which requires significant use of electronic health records and reporting systems, as well as tact, independent judgment and a demonstrated commitment to the Clinic’s mission, vision and goals. Applicants must demonstrate clinical experience and expertise in providing community based mental health services to children and families in low income, diverse, urban settings.
Managing day-to-day operations of outpatient mental health services funded via the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, the Outpatient Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that division staff meet/exceed the expectations of the Clinic’s Standards of Effective Care and working together with Access staff to coordinate and assign outpatient referrals and cases, track client services (i.e., case numbers, case assignments, services providers’ service delivery & documentation requirements, intakes, outcome measures, etc.); attend and run staff meetings; interview applicants for open positions and make recommendations for hire, assess staff performance, provide regular individual and group supervision for clinical therapists and family advocates; and provide ongoing documentation review. Duties will also include direct services/communication with clients and their families/caregivers, as appropriate. The Coordinator works with support and departmental staff to track program data and submit monthly reports, and will complete other management reports and responsibilities as assigned.
The position requires a master’s degree or “equivalent” (Ph.D., Psy.D., MSW, MA or MS) as well as clinical experience and training directly related to the provision of community based mental health services. In keeping with Clinic policy for all employees, the successful applicant must also complete a test for TB and fingerprint clearance by the Department of Justice. CURRENT, VALID CA driver license and REGISTRATION WITH LICENSING BOARD ARE REQUIRED, as is a driving record insurable by the Clinic.
Internal applicants experienced in departmental procedures who have strong organizational, written, communication and teamwork skills will be considered first, according to Clinic policy. The ability to maintain a calm demeanor while handling multiple tasks without losing productivity, licensure as a mental health professional, the ability to supervise interns and experience providing mental health services in a community setting are required. Excellent computer skills including internet, email, Word/Excel and data tracking preferred. A valid California driver license and insurable driving record are required. This position may travel between all sites, within a six-mile radius, travels in own car as needed. Bilingual/Biliterate Spanish ability highly preferred.
DOE/DOQ, depending upon program, clinical experience and licensure status.
