Litigation & Employment Counsel
Duties: Actively and strategically support management of civil litigation matters in a variety of practice areas. Provide advice and strategic support to People Services and operations leaders across the company on a range of employment law issues including those relating to recruiting, hiring, performance management, re-organizations, compensation and benefits, accommodations, leaves of absence, employee classification and contingent workforces, and other employment-related matters. Draft and provide counsel on a wide range of legal documents, including but not limited to, employment agreements, separation agreements, consulting agreements, settlements, and cease and desists. Partner with People Services and operations to build efficient processes to maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations. Support investigations of and responses to compliance issues raised by internal and external sources, including hotline calls, working with People Services, and other legal department sections and affected business units. Provide strategic litigation management, prevention and mitigation. Develop creative approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes. Participate in creation and delivery of training related to employment law matters. Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of company policies. Assist in managing employment-related disputes and litigation. Collaborate with other members of the legal team on inter-departmental issues, such as real estate, intellectual property, commercial contracts, data privacy, etc. Respond to third-party subpoenas and other similar requests/demands.
