Responsibilities: Provide strategic leadership and oversight to one of the largest civil legal service providers in the Bronx, overseeing and managing a budget of $18.2 million in support and revenue. Oversee a team of 152 staff members, including middle managers, staff attorneys, paralegals and administrative support personnel. Partner closely with union representatives from LSSA/NOLSW UAW Local 2320 to ensure continued successful relations and outcomes for employees. Serve as a legal thought partner to practice units, advising on casework as needed. Model and promote culture for all team members, maintaining high standards and a community oriented approach. Participate as an effective member of the senior leadership team of Legal Services NYC, advocating for and improving both the program and Legal Services NYC as a city-wide civil legal services program. Ensure compliance with public and private grant requirements. Collaborate with the citywide leadership team in furthering the goals of the organization’s strategic plan for diversity, equity and inclusion. Act as the principal spokesperson with legislators, media outlets, and community leaders. Promote the program’s successes and its positive impact on its community of constituents. Advance the program’s mission by preserving existing sources of funding while aggressively seeking new funding that allows the expansion of services offered to the underserved. Maintain a strong working relationship with the Legal Services NYC—Bronx Board of Directors, other Legal Services NYC programs and the executive management of Legal Services NYC. Foster collaborative relationships with client communities, advocacy and community groups, elected and other public officials, the courts, government agencies, and the media.
