RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties will include injury prevention, recognition, evaluation and assessment, acute care, treatment, rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. Responsible for athletic training services during intercollegiate practices, home and away sporting events for WIU student-athletes. Travel with assigned sport team(s) by air or bus. Supervision of graduate assistant athletic trainers. Organize and maintain on campus athletic training room supplies and equipment. Communicate effectively with athletic department personnel and the health care team. Other duties and sport services as assigned. Healthcare administrative duties to include timely and accurate medical documentation, and insurance claim form submission. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer. Sport assignments to be determined by candidate strengths and experience.12-month appointment.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Board Certified (BOC) Athletic Trainer.
Eligible for State of Illinois athletic training licensure.
Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or Master's Degree in Athletic Training.
BLS CPR/AED Certification or eligible.
Valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses in the intercollegiate setting.
Experience with post-operative rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries.
Experience with injury tracking software or electronic medical records system.
Experience communicating effectively with coaches, physicians, and other athletic department personnel.
Experience traveling with intercollegiate sport teams.
Certified Athletic Trainer experience as a Graduate Assistant or Intern, or Full-Time employee at the intercollegiate level.
Non-intercollegiate athletic trainer experience may be considered if it demonstrates experience and knowledge consistent with the job responsibilities.
For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
