Part-time Nurse Paralegal
The candidate will join litigation team working primarily in the areas of professional negligence, employment and product liability. Will assist with investigating the facts and claims being asserted. Review medical records and other relevant documents. Draft a chronology summarizing and indexing salient portions of records to be used in case. Assist with analysis of nursing/medical issues and interpreting for legal professionals. Research professional literature related to treatment, conditions and damages claimed in case. Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles. Assist with organizing and maintenance of documents in filing systems. Obtain affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court. Assist legal professionals with preparation and trials, including development of exhibits, impeachment, etc. Must have a nursing degree and clinical experience (a variety of settings is preferred) possess the ability to analyze charts and summarize patient charts and records, create chronologies of care which focus on issues involved in the litigation, as well as research relevant topics to the case. Previous work as a nurse paralegal preferred.
