The Pharmacy Automation Technician will work in collaboration with the Clin Pharm Informatics Mgr, Pharmacy Team Lead and other department leaders as assigned to provide specialized technical support of the Automated Dispensing Systems utilized by the department and hospital. The Pharmacy Automation Technician will assist with entering end user profiles, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting with inventory cabinet optimization and initiating/coordinating service calls and follow-ups. This technician will assist with routine surveillance and audits as well as report analysis, interpretation and presentation as necessary. This technician will also assist with implementations of new equipment, upgrades of existing hardware and software and serve as a super-user to hospital and departmental staff, available for both training and questions. This technician will also provide the cross-functional support duties of an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, dependent upon operational need and satisfactorily pass required hospital and government validation examinations.
HS Diploma or equivalent and Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) is required. This person must be able to perform dosage calculations; have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of hospital personnel; perform basic office environment tasks; have the aptitude to maintain proficiency in all Pharmacy computer systems, automated dispensing cabinet software and systems, and all technical equipment required to perform duties; and possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and the Internet. Additionally, this person is expected to satisfactorily pass required hospital and government validation examinations. Extensive experience with automated dispensing systems.
