Senior Counsel, Commercial Litigation
The candidate will manage all aspects of commercial litigation disputes, including formulating litigation strategy and overseeing outside counsel. Work closely with various legal, product, engineering, and business team members to identify, counsel and mitigate litigation risks. Collaborate with other external in-house counsel and legal organizations on litigation and policy matters. Conduct factual investigations/interviews. Stay informed of new laws, regulations, and industry trends. Research complex legal issues and topics. Draft pre-litigation correspondence or subpoena responses to opposing parties and/or counsel. Oversee and improve internal processes and tools related to litigation. Manage outside counsel to provide accurate budgets, stay within budgets, and provide accurate accruals. A JD or equivalent with membership in good standing to at least one US State Bar. Should have 8+ years of relevant experience (firm and/or in-house experience). Substantial experience with commercial litigation and disputes including in arbitrations as well as state and federal courts. Broad litigation experience, including but not limited to managing discovery, examining and defending witnesses, drafting and arguing motions, and trial experience. Ability to effectively communicate legal issues verbally and in writing in a clear and understandable manner; strong interpersonal skills. Team player who welcomes responsibility and thrives in an intense, fast-paced environment. Resourceful self-starter who enjoys wearing multiple hats and digging into challenging projects, big and small. Experience in operationalizing marketing and content review workstreams and implementing practical solutions across departments. Ability to travel and work varying hours to accommodate the global workforce, as needed. Experience with cybersecurity products, SaaS products, or the broader technology industry is preferred. Experience managing litigation budgets is preferred. Experience with managing global and/or trademark or copyright litigations is preferred.
