Profile

Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Faculty of Health for an embedded Researcher(s)-in-Residence to support applied research in partnership with local authorities and service users and carers. You will be a part of an innovative project, making a difference to changing research culture in public services in Adult Social Care, across two partnering local authorities in Devon, UK (Torbay and Devon County Councils). You must hold experience of carrying out research and be able to work independently and as part of a team. The skills of resilience and innovation are required, along with exceptional networking skills. You will ideally have experience of carrying out research in social care, or a related field, in collaboration with practitioners and managers of services. Being ‘embedded’ within the service setting, increases the potential for well-designed research, applied directly to the context in which solutions will be adopted, to facilitate successful implementation and improve care for service users. This model allows researchers and care staff to understand and value each other’s roles, knowledge and approaches and to develop their complementary skills. The team will undertake research of value to Local Authority partner organisations, and the wider care sector in the Southwest Peninsula. The role is wide ranging, and is likely to include the following: Working with, and alongside, a range of people across organisational boundaries. Focusing on knowledge and bringing people from different disciplines and backgrounds together. Being the supportive facilitator between research and practice, making research more accessible to staff. Co-produce two research projects (one based in each area cross-site) together with partners and members of the public. For further information, please contact; Penelope Welbourne penelope.welbourne@plymouth.ac.uk This role will require a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service Check You should tailor your application towards the Job Description for which you meet the criteria, although the university reserves the right to make an offer at the appropriate level in relation to skills and experience.
