Graduate Fellowship Program
The Fellowship Program places new associates from law firms at public interest law agencies in Illinois, where they are typically paid by their hiring firm to work for 300 hours between graduation and joining the firm. The Fellow will work on a wide and diverse range of issues depending on the agency where they serve. Will also work on transactional matters such as policy development and analysis, advocacy, impact litigation and more. The Fellows support state and federal litigation and policy work throughout the Midwest. Will work with attorneys and other professional staff on policy, legislative and general advocacy issues, and on federal and state court litigation. Job activities may include legal and legislative research, litigation and pre-litigation support, developing case strategies, legislative drafting, clean energy business development, grass roots advocacy work, and special projects. Fellows may also attend meetings with state and federal agencies, legislators and concerned citizens, and participate in depositions and other litigation activities. Assume a significant level of responsibility commensurate with their interests and abilities. Should have a strong academic record, excellent writing and analytical skills, and a demonstrated interest in and commitment to public interest and environmental advocacy.
