Description

The Senior Software Engineer codes software applications based on business requirements. The Senior Software Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Responsibilities

Humana is seeking a Senior Software Engineer that:

Standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software.

Oversees testing and debugging and develops fixes.

Researches complaints and makes necessary adjustments and/or recommendations to resolve complex software related issues.

Begins to influence department's strategy.

Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.

Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field

5 or more years of experience designing, developing, and testing of software applications and/or infrastructure

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Able to communicate effectively with Technical teams and business partners. Needs to be flexible in work assignments and be willing to take on challenges as needed and research any issue.

Collaborate with business and Tech team partners who can help in getting the issue to resolution.

Working independently to learn our applications for our Customer Platform and Automated Enrollment. Knowledge of Cloud technologies, COBOL, CICS, JCL, .NET desired.

Has the ability to create design documents to be handed to offshore for development. Works closely with the architect to modernize current applications with each project.

Growth oriented and capable of moving into a role of working with other areas and our PSM team to open work order, manage the cost, and work with our segments to secure funds for those activities.

This position reports directly to Associate Director, Business Technology Leadership, IT HPE - Medicare Medicaid - Development Support

Location: Louisville office is preferred, but will consider remote candidates.
