A law firm based in Woodbury, NY is seeking a litigation associate with 2-5 years of relevant experience to join its insurance defense practice. Duties:

• Independently manage a docket of professional liability matters under partner supervision

• Prepare and respond to motions, pleadings, and discovery demands

• Draft legal memoranda and conduct case-specific legal research

• Represent clients at hearings, conferences, and court appearances

• Handle and defend depositions of parties and witnesses

• Participate in site inspections and consult with expert witnesses

• Attend mediations and participate in settlement negotiations

• Support trial preparation and attend trials as needed

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of legal practice with experience in professional liability defense or related litigation

• Admitted to practice in New York State and good standing

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Proficiency in legal research and analytical writing

• Familiarity with court rules and insurance defense procedures

• Prior experience with litigation management tools and document systems

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar (active and in good standing)

Skills:

• Strong legal research and writing abilities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Case strategy development and litigation planning

• Familiarity with Westlaw and litigation management software

• Effective time management and organizational skills

• The team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to litigation
