Director of Talent Management
Duties: Lead an experienced team of Talent Acquisition Managers and Associates to proactively recruit and retain exceptional talent for University staff positions, provide operational support for faculty roles, and direct strategic initiatives to expand diversity and inclusion and streamline processes. Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, will be a key member of the HR Leadership team and will work collaboratively to make Syracuse University the leader in talent acquisition within higher education with innovative programs and proactive, high quality customer service. Lead a highly productive talent management team of eight professionals. Evaluate, mentor and direct professional development opportunities. Foster healthy professional relationships and a strong team focus. Manage the day-to-day talent management operations to ensure high quality and timely fulfillment of full-cycle staff recruitment activities (position scoping, posting, screening, interviewing, negotiating and writing offers and on-boarding) as well as dual career services and operational assistance for faculty recruitment. Provide creative energy and strategic direction to enhance recruitment and retention services based on industry best practices. Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives as a high priority for the team and Syracuse University. Serve as a strategic partner to University leaders and hiring managers. Identify and advocate for consistent recruitment practices across the University. Partner directly with Syracuse University leaders to provide assistance with executive and high profile searches. Provide confidential support to external search firms, when needed. Analyze complex data (e.g. labor trends, labor demographics, internal process measurement) to drive business decisions and manage team workloads. Derive optimal value of our existing technology and processes to ensure HR achieves its University and recruitment objectives. Advise and guide HR leadership on decisions related to applicant tracking systems and other technology tools. Emphasize and prioritize providing excellent candidate and hiring manager experiences. Optimize advertising sources and professional affiliations to support diversity outreach and active recruitment efforts. Identify critical talent and develop pipelines for key roles. Collaborate with departmental colleagues (Sr. HR Business Partners, Directors of Benefits, Compensation, HR Shared Services, Wellness and HRIT) to integrate human resources services. Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, EEO policies, and federal/state employment and labor laws.
