reporting to the North America ITO Logistics Leader. This role is located in
.This role has primary responsibility for the implementation and management of key elements within the international logistics work process that contributes to service improvements and cost optimization across the supply chain for Marine Packed Cargo and Air Freight exports for the assigned business portfolios in North America.
As an expert in the international logistics work process and associated systems, the Logistics Specialistâ€™s core job responsibilities include managing the performance of Dowâ€™s logistic service providers (ocean carriers, dray carriers, freight forwarders) to drive service improvement and low cost-to-serve initiatives as well as develop processes and tools for capacity tactical planning. Additional tasks include:
Assess and/or model material and information flows across the supply chain at tactical and/or strategic levels
Identify and evaluate related trade-offs involving inventory levels, conversion costs, logistics costs, asset utilization, productivity and customer service
Help design, optimize and leverage supply chain infrastructure
Help facilitate strategy development and direction related to technology implementation, capital investment, postponement, sourcing and exploiting the supply chain to create competitive advantage
Help identify supply chain related Most Effective Technology (systems, work processes, tools, hardware) and best practices
Help lead, manage and integrate complex cross-functional, inter-business, multi-area projects and relationships and achieve desired results
Help develop innovative solutions, approaches, methodologies and service offerings that address (present and future) business supply chain requirements
This role requires the candidate to have a strong interest in obtaining results to meet rapidly changing business needs; have good judgment; excellent problem-solving skills; and the ability to work with diverse, global teams in an empowered environment. Strong human relation skills, teamwork, project management skills and flexibility are essential for success in this role.
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required with a preference in Supply Chain, Transportation/Logistics, International Business or Trade studies
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience is required
Candidate is expected to gain extensive experience in the operational, legal and regulatory requirements to export from and import into North America
Candidate will need to have knowledge of the shipping processes and impact of other functions (Site logistics, Market/Sell, purchasing, etc.) on the success of the process
Travel will be minimal
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Six Sigma GBPL Certification is preferred or a commitment to achieve GBPL within 2 years of hire
Relocation is not supported with this role.
