Duties:

• Provide clients with legal advice, outlining their rights and responsibilities in criminal cases.
• Draft legal documents, including motions and other filings pertinent to cases.
• Represent clients at pretrial hearings and advise them on strategy following each appearance.
• Oversee and manage court appearances, trials, legal research, and witness interviews.
• Analyze cases, using legal precedents to assess possible outcomes and strategies.
• Organize and manage a caseload effectively while maintaining a high level of client service.
• Evaluate case benefits and advise clients accordingly.
• Gather and present additional evidence to strengthen the client’s case or counter prosecution claims.
• Prepare clients for depositions and coordinate with witnesses and experts to support case strategies.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree.
• Admission to the State Bar.
• Prior experience or interest in criminal defense law, through internships, clinics, or volunteer work.
• Ability to manage legal cases from start to finish.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• A team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to collaborate and strategize with colleagues.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
• Familiarity with case management software is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in California.
