What is the role -

Shell Energy North America and Shell Renewables & Energy Solutions are rapidly growing businesses within the Shell portfolio and are critical to Shell's decarbonization ambitions. These businesses are creating new products and services across the entire value chain -- from generation to retail provider -- while navigating a complex and dynamic political, regulatory and competitive environment.

This role within the Corporate Relations function is integral to helping these Shell businesses navigate and shape the external environment by developing relationships, strategic partnerships, and advocacy initiatives to help our businesses achieve their objectives.

Accountabilities:

Provide analysis and advice relating to electric market competition, RTO/ISO stakeholder processes, PUC proceedings, and legislative developments at state and federal level.

Proactively partner with business leaders, flagging challenges and bringing insights to the table.

Work across businesses, functional areas and expertise areas to share expertise, identify opportunities/risks, pursue advocacy efforts that will make a difference.

Develop and manage relationships with multiple external and internal stakeholders on a tactical/strategic level, as well as manage opposing interests.

Translate business challenges into advocacy objectives and actions across geographies (US) and time horizons (immediate and longer term).

Lead indirect teams of internal and external stakeholders in pursuit of advocacy objectives (e.g., electricity market competition, multi-state transmission cooperation, etc.).

Skills and Requirements

What we need from you –

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor’s degree required (JD or MBA or other graduate degree preferred).

Minimum ten (10) years of related experience.

Strong communications and networking skills

Must possess strong knowledge in electric power systems and exhibit high level of proficiency in RTO/ISO matters and regulation/legislation in the power space, including a good understanding of emerging issues in the electric utility industry.

Willingness to travel 25-50%
